The PixMob Fam: Meet Rick Bhatti

What makes PixMob so unique and so special you ask?

Our answer is simple: the incredible people that make up our DNA. Welcome to our PixMob Fam series, where we showcase the talents, personalities, and quirks of our PixMob Family

We want to introduce you to Rick, our Logistics Guru by day and Rock Star by night.

We sat down with Rick to take a closer look at his journey to becoming the Director of Operations, his passion for music and some of his favourite moments at the company.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your path before joining PixMob!

Well, my music journey (like most) started in a basement...Originally from Toronto, I grew up playing in punk bands as a lead singer. DIY (do-it-yourself) was the ethos, so we handled everything ourselves, from recording albums to touring.

We even convinced George Stroumboulopoulos (right before he went to over to CBC) to interview us and play our songs, it was such a cool experience.

Oh this is a funny memory… I would scratch my ID to pass as a 19-year-old when I was 16 so that I was able to book and play more shows. I was doing so many shows that a booking agent noticed me and asked me to join their team right out of school.

While working for this company, I became the production manager and would come to Montreal very often, resulting in me falling in love with the city. I later grew into more of a logistics role, eventually becoming operations manager.

Then… I found PixMob which was a perfect combination of my passion for music/entertainment and my passion for logistics.

Through all this I was super fortunate to still be able to play music on the side in various projects, including a folk-punk band with my wife. We recorded a live album in a converted chapel a couple weeks before our first son was born.

2. What is your role at the company?

I am the Director of Operations, from procurement to show logistics, our team is responsible for the fulfilment of every project and tour at PixMob.

3. What is your favorite memory of working at PixMob?

Most of my job is coordinating from our Montreal headquarters but I vicariously live throughout amazing production team onsite at the events.

That said, I'm always lucky to sneak off and be part of the onsite activations.. I was lucky enough to be part of the onsite team during a Toronto Raptors Championship Games the year they won the NBA finals. I remember being a kid when the Raptors were created in Toronto, they’d always have contests for designing logos, I still have my logo design in my mom's basement hahah.

I remember thinking if my younger self were to see me right now, being part of such a historic championship, he would be mind blown!

4. What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Spending time with my family! My wife and kids love music and it's so special to be able to share that passion together with them.

5. How would you describe the culture here at PixMob?

In 2 words, Collective Collaboration. Something crazy about this company is that no matter what PixMob encounters, our collective DNA of adaptation kicks in. It doesn't matter what role or department you are in, when unexpected opportunities arise, we all team up and make it happen.

One of the perks of being in the office at the HQ is seeing this synergy in real-time everyday.
