The Afterlife of Fan Experience
What happens to a live experience after the show?
Fans do whatever it takes to keep it alive 📸
After blazing across 18 countries and 5 continents, Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS World Tour came to its bright, beautiful end.
And fans are still processing....
They’re also finding ways to make these live memories last a lifetime....(more on that in a moment).
How Do You Design a Memory?
We think about that lot at PixMob: how can we create technology that doesn’t just power an incredible live experience, but becomes part of the memory itself?
Bad Bunny's entire DTmF tour was built around a powerful theme: that feeling of never wanting the night to end. With "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS" literally translating to "I should've taken more pictures", this tour urged fans to feel and capture the moment before it was gone.
To bring that vision to light, we designed custom LED Camera Badges that connected every fan to the performance, igniting them in fiery moments of nostalgia, energy (and some very sick LED FX). Our product design was deeply connected to everything DtMF stands for: nostalgia, pride, and living fully in the moment - and put a piece of that feeling directly into the hands of fans.
But, just like Benito’s vision for the tour, we had another goal in mind when developing his custom tech…
Make it last.
Engineering an Afterlife for Live Experiences
Our approach to this product design was twofold: create an LED wearable that could power mind-blowing lighting effects, while also creating a durable, thematic piece of merch that fans could take home with them as a forever souvenir.
And then something really cool happened...
Fans started taking them far beyond the show.
When the Experience Becomes the Souvenir
This is the endlessly rewarding part of creating live technology for us: you can design the product, the effects, and the experience - but you don’t get to decide what happens to it afterward.
That belongs to the fans.
We’ve seen people across social media and the world repurposing their LED badges in amazing ways - incorporating them into framed photo installations, customizing them as accessories, and finding countless creative opportunities to turn them into unique souvenirs tied to one of their all-time favorite tours.
Live Tech Turned Forever MemorabiliaÂ
These repurposing trends also point to something interesting happening in live entertainment: merchandise doesn’t have to simply commemorate the fact that someone was there - it can actually be part of the experience itself. And, when designed with that in mind, it becomes something fans genuinely want to keep.
The DtMF tour may be over, but the memories will live on.
And, after all the moments we’ve seen fans share from around the world, we think it’s safe to say we don’t have to 'wish we took more photos'. ❤️‍🔥📸
